“When I paint in the folk art style, it reminds me of my mom and dad, my grandparents. It gives life to my past and to the present as well. My paintings can be both historical and aesthetic. As a self taught Folk Artist, I try to be as original as possible in my concept, creativity, and design. My paintings are oil on canvas, or sometimes, wood board. I love painting
everyday scenes that we take for granted and then listening to people discussing the scene or discovering things in the work that they relate to.
My subjects have ranged from childhood memories of growing up in California and travels across America in the 1950’s and 60’s to current cultural events, and celebrations. I love painting historical American places after doing the research on them.
Living part time in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I now also paint Native Americans and their ceremonies, the landscapes of the area and Hispanic cultural events.
I like to think that my work unites us in common experiences or memories, and I hope you enjoy the view.”
